Now and then, it’s pretty nice to spend an evening talking to someone on FaceTime - and then you suddenly remember they’re 7 time zones ahead of you, it’s now 3 am over there, and you’ve spent the last 30 minutes talking about ice cream and other nonsense.
We’re using this technology to its fullest potential.

Why study such a hard language?
Oh, because I love it.
I’m going to take an Arabic course this summer - one that will hopefully be some review and some new grammar for me, since I haven’t been in class for nearly two years. (And I speak some messed up combination of Levantine and Bedouin dialects, peppered with Egyptian colloquialisms). Basically, it covers three chapters in a textbook and “new vocabulary is introduced across various topics such as Arab culture, government, religion and relationships.”
I looked up the Turkish course descriptions, too; now that I’ve visited, I do have an interest in learning it, and my Arabic-speaking friends claim it would be “easy, like Arabic” (ha!) for me. In the introductory Turkish class, you learn past, present, and future (all in one class! What!), vocabulary, expressing yourself, having conversations with friends…
It’s not fair.
